PJ Mitchell is a partner, shareholder and co-founder of the law firm of Mitchell & West, L.L.C. where he specializes in the areas of medical malpractice, nursing home malpractice, wrongful death, products liability, catastrophic/high exposure litigation and white collar criminal defense.
Mr. Mitchell is licensed and actively practices in Florida and Louisiana state courts, as well as the Southern and Middle Districts of the State of Florida in the United States District Courts, and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals of the United State of America. Mr. Mitchell is a member of the Cuban American Bar Association, Miami-Dade Bar Association, American Bar Association and the Florida Justice Association. He earned his B.S. in Psychology from Northwestern State University (1995) and his Juris Doctor from Florida Coastal School of Law (2000).
Mr. Mitchell serves as a frequent lecturer and writer for the National Business Institute in the areas of Medical and Nursing Home Malpractice. Prior to founding Mitchell & West, L.L.C Mr. Mitchell spent over three and a half years in the public service sector before being employed by Marlow, Connell, Valerius, Abrams, Adler, Newman and Lewis. While at Marlow Connell, he defended clients/corporations on several high exposure litigation cases involving products liability and medical malpractice. Former clients include ACE USA, American International Group Insurance Companies (AIG), Gallagher Bassett Services, The Travelers Company, and Zurich Insurance Company.
To date, Mr. Mitchell has tried over thirty cases to conclusion. His extensive trial experience and proven winning record qualifies him as one of south Florida outstanding young lawyers. Mr. Mitchell is an aggressive trial lawyer who devotes himself to the fight for justice while maintaining the highest ethical standards of professionalism.
Mr. Mitchell is active and generous with his time within the local community. He provides pro bono legal services to those indigent parties in need of such services. These legal services are based on need and the ability to provide such services. Additionally, Mr. Mitchell sits on several advisory boards such as the Florida advisory board for Generation Engage, a nonpartisan, civic-engagement initiative, that provides a venue for young Americans and our political leaders to establish a dialogue about the future of America. Lastly, Mr. Mitchell is a Master Mason and a former member and president of Phi Delta Phi, and the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
